Meterologist Jeremy Reiner

On Friday, April 25th Mr. Reiner gave a talk about weather to grades K-3.  Through great pictures, he engaged the audience in learning about different weather vocabulary and science.  He showed a brief film about the tricks behind a television weather report!  The Cove School faculty and students would like to thank Mr. Reiner for volunteering his time to come and teach us about weather!

Cove School Annual "WOG" - A - Thon

"Ways of  Going" - (walk, jog, hop, skip, gallop, etc...)
May 3, 2013
(Hard Copy Notice Sent Home)

It's time for Cove School's annual "WOG-A-THON" to raise money for the Dan Peterson Fund that was started by the class of 2004.  The money in that fund has been used to help students, families, and staff in need.  Anyone can request monetary help for any member of the Cove School Community.  In the recent past money has been used for such necessities as gas cards, home heating, groceries, clothing, after school programs, and holiday gifts.

For those of you that may not have known Dan Peterson, you missed out on meeting a remarkable man.  Unfortunately,  Dan passed away in March of 2006.  Cove staff had the honor of knowing an extraordinary individual who inspired us with positive words and actions of generosity and faith.  Dan did what few us can: stay true to the hopeful pledge - to make each day full of moments to be cherished and filled with possibilities.  What is even more amazing is that he managed to spread this sense of enthusiasm and joy to ALL of the students.  By contributing time, energy, token gifts, and most importantly, a generous smile, children were able to see the simplicity and sincerity of care and commitment.  Slipping a student money to buy a book at the nook fair, bringing coffee to a stressed teacher, offering words of encouragement for the discouraged or saddened...the list of selfless, thoughtful gestures is long. "Thank you" does not seem to be enough to communicate the sense of appreciation and inspiration that we teachers feel when we think of Dan.  We have decided to pick a specific date that will be used to celebrate Dan Peterson year after year. We thought that May 3rd, (Dan's birthday was the 5th), would be the best way to do that.

Friday May 3rd will be the date for the annual "WOG-A-THON".

Each class will be participating during an assigned time on Friday, May 3rd.  Parent volunteers will be located around the school perimeter in a way that all students will be visible by at least one adult at all times.  The students may choose their way of going, by either jogging or walking around the perimeter.  Each child is encouraged to give a dollar donation to be put into the Dane Peterson Fund.

Parents and guardians feel free to come and walk with your child on this day during their scheduled time .

All donations should be sent to your classroom teacher by Friday, May 3rd.
Checks should be made out to "Cove School PTO".

Thank you : )

Student Council/Pennies For Patients

Pennies for Patients

The Student Council fundraiser for April is called Pennies for Patients.  The Cove School is trying to make a positive impact on the lives of kids with leukemia and lymphoma.  Your child has brought home a box and notice for the fundraiser.  In the box you and your child can collect pennies and other change.  Your child will learn how to help others and the community while helping to change the lives of sick children.  Go look under cushions of the couch or even coats in your closet.  EVERY PENNY COUNTS!  Please return your boxes by Friday, April 12.

Thanks for your support!
