Paws for a Cause: Up-Date

Thank you to everyone who contributed towards our Paws for Cause campaign.  To date, we have raised just over $250.00!!!  A huge thank you to the 5th grade student council for doing their part; from cutting out dog paws, creating an AMAZING display in the hallway with colorful prints, and collecting donations.  We will continue collecting donations, but just wanted to send out a huge THANK YOU for what the Cove School Community has already contributed towards our therapeutic service dog.

Asthma Workshops!

Five students, grades 3 through 5, have participated in the American Lung Association’s (ALA) school curriculum, Open Airways for Schools. Over the course of four 35 minute classes, students have been sharing their knowledge about asthma with each other and are becoming what the ALA calls “asthma experts.”

The essence of the program is empowerment as students learn to take control of their asthma and make healthy choices. Following these four classes, the five students will have the opportunity to teach younger students with asthma some of the skills they have been practicing.

School Nurse, Mimi Benedict, RN, MPH, became certified as an Open Airways Instructor by the ALA in order to facilitate these workshops.

Listen Up Readers!

What are those old books doing lying on the shelf? Don’t you want to swap them for new ones? You know the old saying “One man’s trash is another’s man’s treasure.”

Bring in one to five old books that you have read (or not). Your books will be used at the Cove library Book Swap coming May 20th. Bring the books in by Thursday May 16th.  No books will be accepted after the due date.

We do not accept Golden Books, textbooks, damage books, comic books, or coloring books. Sorry.

Clean out your book shelf or your sibling’s book shelves. Make sure they are appropriate.

See you then!!! J

Optional Homework Assignment?!?

Dear Cove Families,

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! As an optional homework assignment to our students, I encourage them to choose one staff member who they appreciate and write them a note or draw them a picture to let them know how much they appreciate them.

As Principal, I'd like to tell you how very fortunate I feel to work with the professionals that teach your children each day. As I am blessed to work alongside them - rest assured your children are reaping the benefits of their hard work and dedication! It is never too late to say thank you - optional homework assignments will be accepted late. : )

Thank You to All Staff Members!!
